Hamburg, 13th of May 2024 – As part of a European tender, ZDF awards the contract for the technical advancement of its HbbTV and Smart TV media library once again to TeraVolt – A QVEST Company. With this, the broadcaster seals the successful collaboration with the OTT solution provider from Hamburg for potential additional four years.
Since 2020, the TeraVolt team has been responsible for UX, screen design, programming, and operation of ZDF's big-screen media library – both for HbbTV, Smart TV, and for third-party platforms such as MagentaTV and Sky. The streaming service, with more than 20 million users per month, is the most important digital distribution channel for ZDF.

Overview: The development of the ZDF media library since 2022
TeraVolt starts in 2022 with the development of a future-proof solution for all Connected TV broadcasts for ZDF. This includes front and back-end development with current technology frameworks as well as a design and UX rebrush of the entire big-screen media library.
In addition to an improved HbbTV start page, users can now enjoy the following features:
- Instant restart of currently running programs
- Direct access to editorial highlights of the media library during broadcast through interactive overlays
- Zapping Player*: Navigation in scroll and swipe mode as learned from social media, with content offerings automatically played to engage users directly in the action
- Improved player interface
- Chapter jump marks in videos
- Interactive highlights in live sports
